Souvenirs de Denise Pelletier Michaud
1926 - 2013
LEWISTON — Gisele G. Dobransky, 86, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 4, at Marshwood Center with her family at her side.
She was born in Jonquiere, Canada on Dec. 27, 1926, the daughter of Alfred J. and Alida (Belanger) Baillergeon, both naturalized citizens of the United States. Gisele returned to the United States in 1931 to Brunswick, Maine where she attended St. John’s School and Brunswick High School. Following school Gisele worked at LaCharite’s Market in Brunswick, The Brunswick Sewing Company and Pejepscot Paper Bowdoin Mill.
On Aug. 16, 1947, Gisele married Edward J. Dobransky at St. John’s Church in Brunswick. Gisele and Edward lived in Brunswick for several years and then in Pejepscot. They later made their permanent residence in Lisbon Falls where they have lived since 1964. Gisele attended Catholic Church since she was a child and was a parishioner of St. Andrew’s Church in Pejepscot, St. Cyril & Methodius Church in Lisbon Falls and Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls
Gisele’s primary occupation was that of a homemaker. Her family has many fond memories of coming home at the end of the day to her specialty entrees like Slovak soup, stuffed cabbage, chicken with rice and Canadian Ragu. Gisele was also an excellent baker and she always found time to create daily desserts like raspberry-crème bismarks, blueberry cobbler and horseshoe nut rolls. Two of Gisele’s favorites were Canadian sugar pie and Penuche fudge. Gisele’s fondest accomplishment was the book of her daily activities that she created in 1975-1976 titled “Diary of Mom’s Kitchen.” Gisele penned a daily diary of her activities for an entire year. During the year she would capture an overview of the family activities of the day, together with one of her recipes that she had created that day. At the end of the year the books were copied and bound and a copy was provided to her husband and her three sons as a remembrance of her and her recipes. The books get used regularly by her family as they all try to recreate what Gisele would do routinely.
Gisele is survived by her loving husband of 66 years who cared for her for almost 15 years after two debilitating strokes. She is also survived by her three sons, Dennis L. of Pensacola, Fla., and his wife, Patricia, Mark A. of Lisbon Falls, Jerome F. of Lewiston and his wife, Lynne; four granddaughters, Hilarie Dobransky, Whitney Mattice, Ashley Dobransky and Shelby Dobransky.
Gisele was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Yvette; her brother, Victor; and her sister, Jeanine.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Marshwood Center and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the special care given to Gisele during her final weeks.
You are invited to share your thoughts, condolences and fond memories with the Dobransky family by visiting their guest book at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com.
